Postpartum Preparation Class
Postpartum Preparation Class
A few years ago I started saying “birth is a moment, postpartum is forever.” As a birth doula I saw so many of the families I worked with spend months planning for their births; finding the right provider, checking things off the nursery items, etc. but little time or consideration was put into planning for the postpartum. The more I worked with families the more I started to spend dedicated time with them to plan for postpartum with as much effort that we put into planning for labor and birth. And yet, so many of us are unprepared for the fourth trimester.
This postpartum preparation course is for pregnant folks and when applicable partners to give people the opportunity to learn about and plan for the months following birth. Rooted in the principles of traditional postpartum care, during our time together we’ll discuss the ways in which family structures change after a baby is born and I’ll offer tools to help you adjust to this change. We’ll go over ways to feed babies and how to find resources for feeding, we’ll go over the importance of nutrition and rest for birthing people after birth. We’ll discuss caring for your postpartum body after any type of birth (vaginal or cesarean) as well how to support your family, your relationship, and how to prepare for the adjustment of new parenthood.
Postpartum Preparation Class is an affordable way to work with a postpartum doula, meet other new parents, and prepare for the 4th Trimester. This is not a newborn baby care class, this is a class to prepare you for the 4th trimester.
