2025 In Person Postpartum Doula Training

Imagine a world where every person who gave birth was honored with ritual and ceremony.
Imagine if we cared for the people who gave birth in a way that celebrated their own reBirth.
Imagine how much healthier we would be, as a community, if we cared for women after birth.
We don’t need to imagine it - we can re-Create this reality.

In generations past we honored and celebrated the transition from maiden to motherhood. We surrounded people who gave birth with wisdom and witnessing. We gathered to support the birth giver with nourishing food, warming herbal remedies, and sacred listening. This ancestral wisdom lives in all of our bones and is hidden in all our DNA - Whole Body Pregnancy Postpartum Care Provider Training aims to wake up and revive our lost knowledge.

Through our immersive 4-day, in-person training we will lift the veil and rediscover the ancient wisdom of our past.

To honor ourselves.
To honor mothers.
To honor birth givers.
To honor families.

Whole Body Pregnancy Postpartum Care Provider Training is multi-dimensional - we learn healing modalities to help postpartum people, while simultaneously working on our own healing. Many of us who are called to this work are people whose identities have been pushed to the margins, we’ve been trained to make our voices quiet, to take up less space, to hide our shadows, our magic.

Participants Should Expect to have a personal transformation and a clearer understanding of their “why” in birth work. Through our time together, both personally and virtually, we will explore who we are as individuals and how we come to this work. I will give you tools to continue to ask questions each cycle of the moon, and yearly cycle to help better understands the way we do this work, how we change in the work, and what we bring to the work. I expect that folks are curious about their shadow sides and gleaning what can be learned from our Shadows. I hope that folks are interested in shifting perspective and breaking cycles of patriarchy and white supremacy, and working through a more open, expansive, affirming, and collective lens. I’m interested in folks who are interested in curating their own unique gifts to create a postpartum model of care that mirrors their own needs as well as their communal needs.

How Do You Know If This Is the Right Training For You?

You’re ready to uncover traditional ways to help people who are postpartum.

You’re interested in caring for mothers and birth givers.

You want to help heal your community.

You understand the importance of ritual for times of transition and transformation.

You want to work more closely to sacred energy.

You understand the divine nature of all who hold life.

Whole Body Pregnancy is rooted in affirming, whole-istic, person-centered approach to learning about all aspects of people’s reproductive journey. This work is rooted in self-discovery and an intimate understanding of who we are as individuals; who are we? what do we believe? Whole Body Pregnancy believes that before working with people along with this incredible transition of becoming parents, that we as doulas need to do our own work. And understands that this work is evolving. This training asks the practitioner to do personal work. It asks them to hold a mirror up to themselves, to work with their shadow side, to stand in their beliefs. This is personal work. This is communal work.

Whole Body Pregnancy understands that each individual person comes to their fertility, pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum journey with their own lived experiences and hopes that practitioners (doulas) are able to honor each individual and family they work with with honor and respect.

This training is easy in that it allows us to sink into the knowing that lives in all of our bones. It’s hard because most of us have lost that knowing, are disconnected from that knowing. Through our time together we will explore the common traditions of postpartum that expands ethnicities and nationalities while encouraging folks to learn about their own people’s postpartum practices.

Therefore, Whole Body Pregnancy isn’t interested in having cookie-cutter replicas of birth workers, but instead wants practitioners who come through training to come out on the other side as their authentic selves. This means that doulas who have walked this path work with families and clients who are survivors, clients who are sex workers, clients who are queer, and clients who are undocumented to name a few.

If you are interested in forging your own path in the doula world to work with the communities that mean the most to you and who will be best impacted by you, this is the training for you. If you’re interested in being a doula for everyone - this is not for you.

This training is also about learning how to care for people in their postpartum; whether they give birth to a live baby they go home to or experience a pregnancy loss or have an abortion. This is not a baby or infant care training. We will discuss baby needs and development, but only as the pertain to the postpartum person.

What’s Included in the Price?

This is a hybrid in-person and virtual training that spans 10 Lunar Cycles to complete. This training is a commitment to me as your trainer, you as an individual, and the other folks in your cohort. We will be going DEEP. We will be working with one another for almost a year. We will provide witnessing and listening to one another, we will learn with one another, we will be with one another as we work on ourselves, our shadows, and our businesses.

This training is an EMBODIED training that considers the physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional work that is being a birth worker.

Part One
IMMERSION
January 27th-30th
10a-5p
We will meet in the Puget Sound (either in Tacoma, WA, or Steilacoom, WA) for a 4-day, in-person, embodied training.
Each day we will set an altar, create sacred space, breathe with one another, and move our bodies.
Throughout the four days we will SLOW DOWN. We will take our time. We will bask in candlelight and in one another as we learn:

Understanding your “Why”/Shadow Work
The importance of Traditional Postpartum Care
The Parent/Baby Dyad
How to Listen with Our Heart
Creating Sacred Space
The Importance of Ritual
Belly Binding
Castor Oil Packs
Moxibustion
Pelvic Steaming
Sitz Baths
Foot Baths
Belly Massage
Closing the Bones

We will close each day with an open check in, with breath work and/or movement.
You will be fed and nourished each lunch period with space and breaks for reflection, journaling, walking in nature.
This is meant to feel like a retreat-style training that allows birth workers to have hands-on experience with traditional postpartum care modalities, holding space, creating ritual, and creating sacred space.

PART TWO
INTEGRATION
Virtual
Following our 4-day training we will meet for 10 Lunar Cycles on an agreed-upon set date for learning, checking in, mentorship, and business support.
We will have guest speakers to cover topics including
-Lactation Basics
-Baby Wearing
-Affirming Care for Queer and Trans people who give birth
I will lead training topics that cover:
Embodied Business Creation
Trauma-Informed Care
Caring for people after loss and abortion
Continued self-care practices for birth workers.

After completion of the Integragion Stage of training folks who choose to certify (which you do not need to do to be a birth worker) will have 12 months to complete the work.

Airfare and lodging are not included.

Will You Be Offering Scholarships?

I offer scholarships as people donate to the scholarship fund. It is my hope to be able to offer 1-2 scholarship spots as I am able.

Can I take this training if I’ve never been trained as a doula before?

I absolutely LOVE when I am the first doula training folks have because it means that you will be learning birth work from a reproductive justice lens, from an anti-racism lens, and from people who are queer or of the Global Majority. This isn’t a training that has inclusion or diversity as a separate topic, this training is rooted in affirming care for all people who are postpartum. And frankly, all training should, but sadly they’re not.

Where Will The Training Be Located?

I will be welcoming folks into my home in the Pacific Northwest or at the Threshold Collective in Tacoma, WA.

How many people can attend?

Because of space limitations, this training will cap at 10 people.

What happens if I can’t make it?

When we meet in at the January New Moon, the first New Moon of 2025, this will have been training 5 years in the making and my third time hosting. I will be welcoming people into the home I share with my family on the land that I steward. We (my wife and I) will be feeding participants the food we have prepared with our hands. The herbs you take home will be herbs grown in my hard for participants to harvest (or herbs previously harvested because of the season). The manual each participant receives is the curriculum written by me, and the lessons and rituals I will take us through come from my blood, sweat, and tears.

Because of the time and commitment that will go into the curation of this training, there will be ZERO REFUNDS GIVEN. You are able to transfer the price towards digital/virtual training opportunities.

Please make sure this is the right training for you before committing.

So, dear one, are you ready to create the single drop that will ripple into unknowable concentric circles of healing, community, transformation, and witnessing?

If you’re ready to disrupt the idea that postpartum is 6 weeks
If you’re ready to create space to heal generations of wounds
If you’re ready to transform the way that we do postpartum work.

Join us January 27-30th, 2025.
