Hello, it's Me
Hello Everyone! I’m so excited that you’re here! I’ve been a little quiet on the blog space, but I’m excited to begin to utilize this feature a bit more in the coming months!
This little drop by is to say hello and tell you a little bit about me.
As you probably know, my name is Erika Davis. I’m a birth worker, new mother and owner of Whole Body Pregnancy, LLC. When engaging with me in this space, please be mindful of the fact that I’m a person as well as a business owner. My mother always taught me to say hello when I meet someone new, and I ask that same courtesy be extended to me in my space. Before asking me a question or about an offering (or just in general) a greeting is appreciated.
Search before you ask - many questions folks have about doula services, classes, scholarships, etc have been asked before. You can find most of the answers to questions here on the blog, on the website or on my IG. Don’t see the answer to a question? Feel free to send me an email, but don’t forget to say hello first!
Sharing is caring. I’m THRILLED that so many folks have found their way to my page (mostly from the 6-week Postpartum “I Love You” post on Instagram). I share for a variety of reasons;
To normalize. As you may know, (in)fertility and loss are a part of my journey in the constellation of who I am as a birth worker. Early postpartum is always a part of my journey. I share to normalize that it’s OK to not feel good about any of it. To normalize that it’s OK to downright hate it. And that it’s OK to experience the vastness and full emotional range many folks have postpartum.
To help me process and to build community. I suffered with (in)fertility struggles in silence for almost 3 years of our journey. It wasn’t until after our first miscarriage that I really started to share our struggles, my feelings and emotions, and our hopes and dreams. When I did SO MANY PEOPLE came out of the “woodwork” to share their own experiences with pregnancy loss and infertility. I realized that the more we talk about it, the fewer folks will feel.
IF you share, I kindly ask that you - CREDIT ME AND MY WORK. BUT/AND be responsible for your people. By sharing my work you’re affirming who I am and the community I serve. That community is Pro-Black, Pro-Queer, Affirming of all pregnancy outcomes (Pro-Abortion), and Pro-Jewish. I DO NOT TOLERATE Hatred, Bigotry, AntiSemitism, or Transphobia in my space - Please do not attach my shares in your space if you don’t also share my beliefs.
So, thanks for being here! Please introduce yourself in the comments.
